Step-by-Step Instructions
Turn off power
2 minutes
Turn off power at the breaker for hardwired disposals, or unplug if connected to an outlet. Verify power is off by trying the switch.
Warning
NEVER work on a disposal with power connected.
Disconnect drain and remove old disposal
15-20 minutes
Place a bucket under the disposal. Disconnect the drain pipe from the disposal. If replacing, twist the disposal counterclockwise to release from mounting ring. If no existing disposal, remove the sink drain basket.
Install new mounting ring
15 minutes
Apply plumber's putty around the new sink flange. Insert flange from above and attach mounting ring from below. Tighten evenly until the putty squeezes out slightly.

The mounting assembly usually has a snap ring, mounting ring, and backup flange.

Slide the fiber gasket and backup flange onto the sink sleeve from below. Press the snap ring into the groove - it holds everything in place. Tighten the mounting screws evenly.

For hardwired: remove the electrical cover plate on the disposal, connect black to black, white to white, and green to ground. For plug-in: simply attach the cord kit to the disposal.
Warning
Ensure power is still off before connecting wires.
Mount the disposal
5 minutes
Lift the disposal and align it with the mounting ring. Twist clockwise to lock in place. It should click securely into the mounting tabs.
Pro Tip
Disposals are heavy - you may want a helper to hold it while you lock it in place.
Connect drain pipes
15 minutes
Connect the disposal to the drain pipe. If you have a dishwasher, knock out the dishwasher drain plug (if not already removed) and connect the dishwasher drain hose.
Warning
If you have a dishwasher, you MUST remove the knockout plug or water will back up.
Test for leaks and operation
5 minutes
Turn on water and check all connections for leaks. Turn on power and test the disposal with running water. Listen for proper operation.

Always run water when using the disposal to help flush waste through.
